Lakota strongly believes that housing should be a basic, inalienable human right. While we cannot enforce this policy at a local level, we can work to repurpose funding from the city's budget to help create incentives for more affordable housing.
In a city such as Albany that sees such a large socioeconomic divide, we must strive to improve the public transportion options offered to our residents. We must expand our current bus schedules to encompass more of our residents working the night shift, and offer safer bus stop locations and shelters.
Albany is home to a large population of unhoused residents. We must work to make them feel comfortable and safe in our community by ensuring they have access to the basic necessities. Under a Lakota administration we will work to set up "Resource Stations" around the city containing food, clothing, and clean water.
Lakota and his team have already begun to work to solve this crisis, providing meals to the homeless on a regular basis through a charity he established in early 2021. As mayor, Lakota will work to expand these efforts to ensure everyone in the city of Albany has their basic needs met, regardless of their housing status.
If you are ready to see a positive change in Albany,
please write in "Lakota Lustig" on Nov, 2nd 2021.
Together, we can change Albany for the better.
